Trust & Safety

TicketHoldr is built from the ground up to eliminate ticket scams. Here's how we protect every transaction.

Why screenshots are unsafe

Screenshots can be faked

Anyone can photoshop a ticket confirmation or barcode. There's no way to verify it's real.

Same ticket sold multiple times

Scammers send the same screenshot to multiple buyers. Only one person gets in—if anyone does.

No proof of ownership

A screenshot doesn't prove the seller still owns the ticket or hasn't already transferred it.

No recourse when scammed

Once you pay via Venmo or Zelle, the money is gone. The seller can ghost you with no consequences.

Never buy tickets via screenshot

If someone asks you to pay based on a screenshot, it's almost certainly a scam. Always insist on a verified transfer through a platform like TicketHoldr.

Why direct payments are risky

Venmo, Zelle, and Cash App are designed for sending money to people you know and trust. They offer little to no protection for purchases from strangers.

No buyer protection — These apps explicitly state they don't cover purchases.
Instant and irreversible — Once money is sent, you cannot get it back without the recipient agreeing.
Easy to impersonate — Scammers create fake accounts or impersonate real people.

Even if you "know" the seller from Facebook or Twitter, you don't really know them. Scammers build fake profiles and social proof specifically to exploit trust.

How TicketHoldr escrow works

Escrow is a simple concept: a neutral third party holds both the tickets and the money until the deal is complete. Neither buyer nor seller can be scammed.

1

Seller transfers tickets

Tickets are transferred to TicketHoldr custody and verified for authenticity.

2

Buyer pays securely

Payment is held in escrow—not sent to the seller. Funds are locked and secure.

3

Deal completes

Tickets go to buyer, money goes to seller. Everyone is protected.

What if the tickets aren't valid?

If tickets fail verification, the deal is cancelled automatically. Buyer gets a full refund. Seller keeps their tickets.

What if the buyer backs out?

If the buyer doesn't pay within the holding window, tickets are automatically returned to the seller. No harm done.

What TicketHoldr does NOT do

We're focused on one thing: secure ticket transfers. Here's what we don't handle:

We don't set prices — Buyers and sellers agree on price directly.
We don't match buyers/sellers — Find your match on social media, then use us.
We're not a marketplace — We just make the transaction safe.
We don't guarantee event experience — We verify the ticket is real, not that the show is good.
